Have A Good Journey Home, Toni Kassim.
My brief encounter with Toni Kassim was a musical one; we spent a few nights practicing a song that was presented on a SUARAM fundraising event a 2 years back.
I remember her as a motherly figure, making sure we didn’t make mistakes while at the same time gave us the full-hearted trust to accompany her impeccable voice.
Eli and I are both lazy musicians — we practically waited till the last moment before we sat down to figure out our guitar parts.
I promised Toni we shall meet again, and have lots of booze some time.
But that time never came.
Perhaps we must learn to treasure each other more and made sure every moment lasts.
There is a Chinese saying that goes “一路好走” which literally means “have a good journey” when we bid our friends farewell for good.
You have done a lot to help those around you, and I really pray your journey in Life and thereafter is what we will measure ours upon.
You will be greatly missed, Toni Kassim.
